Armed with passion and skill, Mandy takes on the world

"Where you start off is not always where you end up."

ppelbooms Art School’s latest graduate, Mandy Koekemoer, is ready to take the world of art by storm, armed with two certificates for painting and sketching.

Mandy, an inspiration to all, began her life as a car guard sixteen years ago. She proved that where you start off is not always where you end up. Although she always wanted to be an artist, Mandy only ventured forth with her dream at her sister’s insistence.

This, coupled with her innate passion for art, led her in the direction of Appelboom Art School in Heidelberg. Here she spent two years learning the craft.

Today she is qualified, and hopes to open her own art gallery in the heart of Dundee.

Mandy said her specialisation lies in landscaping and portrait designing, all of which are oil-based and eco-friendly. Mandy, a jack of all trades, also sketches.

When asked where she finds her inspiration, Mandy smiled and referred to her best piece, an identical copy of a portrait of an old folklore legend Hans Die Skipper, and stated, ‘in making people happy with my art’.

Mandy leaves the readers with a simple message, hoping to encourage those with similar dreams: “You never know until you try; don’t give up on your dreams fight for them!”

Mandy fought fiercely for her dreams, and plans to fight even harder in her new world of art.

For more information, or if you would like to liaise with Mandy, her cell number is 071 414 1174.
