Winning award for teaching excellence

He has demonstrated that success comes through hard work, determination and 'going the extra mile'

The hard work of a local teacher was recently recognised at the National Teaching Awards.

The educator in question is Roshan Behareelall of ML Sultan Primary School. He prides himself on the development and advancement of Information Technology in his teaching.

Mr Behareelall won a Teaching & Learning Award in the category ‘Excellence in Technology- Enhanced’. In doing so, he has not only done the school proud, but also the Circuit, District and Cluster. Furthermore, he has demonstrated that success comes through hard work, determination and ‘going the extra mile’.

He has now been chosen to represent the Cluster at provincial level on Friday (November 29), which will take place in Durban.

Mr Behareelall attained a bursary to attend the Springfield College of Education, where he majored in Mathematics and Technical Drawing, graduating in 1998. “My duty to raise children to greater heights is exemplified in my actions, allowing children to adopt an accepting attitude towards people of other races,” says Mr Behareelall. “By introducing learners to these principles, I teach them to be open and loving,” he adds.

ML Sultan staff and management are extremely proud of Mr Behareelall and wish him everything of the very best in the future.
