Election campaign moves into gear with Mantashe visit

Mantashe urged the youth to register and vote and he also said the youth should focus on education to better their future

ANC- SECRETARY general Gwede Mantashe urged members not to promise
people anything during the door-to-door campaigns. Speaking at the
2014 election campaign in Springbok Laagte Ward 8, Dannhauser in the
northern KwaZulu-Natal Mantashe said the ANC volunteers should be
actively involved in KZN as the party is hoping up for the 70 %
voters in the up coming elections scheduled for next year. “Knock and
drop of pamphlets is not vital for the party and door-to-door is
important as the homework,”Mantashe said, adding that this is the
report back phase homework where the party interact with the people
direct.
He urged all the people to go and register and vote. Mantashe was accompanied by the KZN secretary Sihle Zikalala, PEC
member Sipho Gcabashe, Emalahleni Regional Chairperson Arthur Zwane,
Regional secretary Ntokozo Mhlungu and other members of the REC.
Mantashe urged the youth to register and vote and he also said the
youth should focus on education to better their future. He said the
ANC government has done a lot in improving the lives of the people. Resident Maria Khumalo had asked Mantashe why she has to register and vote, to which Mantashe
replied that it is important to vote because you put the government of your
own into power. Mantashe interacted with many people during his visit
to Newcastle because after he had vanished the door-to-door in
Springbok he went to Good Geluk pension pay point where the pensioners
were thrilled to see him in person. After the door-to-door visits
there was a debriefing where all the deployed people had to report
back as to what problems they had encountered in the households.
