Burst pipe angers Farquhar Road residents

uThukela workers were dispatched at 1pm and fixed the pipe

Farquhar Road residents are furious about a burst water pipe in the area.

The pipe burst at about 3am this morning and the water has been running down the road ever since. One resident phoned uThukela’s 24-hour help-line and was astonished when nobody answered.”How can a 24-hour help-line not be answered? That is so pathetic,” said the upset woman.

People in the area are now wondering when uThukela plans to send out workers and fix the problem because, in the meantime, litres upon litres of clean water is being wasted.

“Why are uThukela not making it their main priority to sort out this problem? Water is gushing down the street like a small river, so you’d think they’d see the urgency of getting over there and repairing the pipe,” said another person.

The water makes it difficult for children to walk to school, and motorists have to drive slowly through the water so as not to flood their engines. After many phone calls, the residents finally got through to uThukela, who promised they would sort out the problem.

However, until now (11am), water is still gushing unabated down Farquhar Road.

Update: uThukela workers were dispatched at 1pm and fixed the pipe. Water has now stopped flowing down Farquhar Road.
