Taxi crash claims one life
Two passengers were in a serious condition and three more had sustained moderate injuries
One person died as a result of a collision between a taxi and a truck along the N3 in the early hours of Saturday morning. The taxi was travelling to a Kaizer Chiefs soccer match when the accident happened.
The taxi and the truck were heading in the direction of Johannesburg when the truck allegedly stopped in the road at the Tugela Plaza. The taxi allegedly had another vehicle on its right and so was unable to swerve out of the way. It collided with the truck.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene, where there were multiple casualties. Two passengers were in a serious condition and three more had sustained moderate injuries. The passengers were taken to hospital, where one of them later died.
Police are investigating.
