St James’ Anglican Church – blessing the animals October 26 and 27
The Anglican Church will be at the kennels on the morning of Saturday, October 26 to bless the animals, and there will be a service dedicated to animals at the church on Sunday, October 27.
All members of the public are welcome to attend, together with your well-behaved pets!
Found
A sausage dog was found in the Gladstone/Gray Street area, and a ginger and white teenaged cat near Orange Grove Dairy. An Alsation X was also found in the Pick’nPay area. PLEASE check the kennels if your pet is missing!
For adoption
There are sausage dog X and Jack Russell X puppies available to good homes. There are two adult Jack Russel Xs looking for homes as well.
New kittens have arrived and are also ready to be adopted, including grey and white, ginger and white, tabby, tortoise-shell and many other colours.
Please would someone open their heart to the white kitten that has been so patient while his future owner makes up his/her mind… he will be a joy in any home!
Thanks
The SPCA would like to thank Pick’nPay for meat, Kevin Ross for towels, and all members of the public who donated items to be sold at Talana Live.
Thanks also to everyone who supported our stall, and to Maryna and Chantal who volunteered to help out.
A big thanks to Pam for her amazing organisation of the Talana Live weekend, and for giving the SPCA the opportunity to fund-raise.
Fireworks by-laws – see next week
Next week’s Courier’s SPCA article will provide information on the Municipal Bylaws regarding fireworks.
With the fireworks season approaching, the SPCA urges the public to have consideration for animals instead of indiscriminately setting off loud bangs that disturb animals in a very wide radius.
Every year the SPCA has a big job of collecting the animals that get upset and run away from their homes, and sadly some are never collected at all afterwards.
May you all have a blessed Diwali and/or happy Guy Fawkes Day! But please enjoy your celebrations in consideration of others.
