Sad farewell to Issie Myburgh

She was a livewire and an absolute pleasure to have with us

Ladysmith is mourning the loss of resident Mrs Issie Myburgh after her sudden passing last night. Issie was well-known for her involvement in the ATKV Dames-Tak, being the scribe of the regular column that appeared in the Ladysmith Gazette.

“She was a livewire and an absolute pleasure to have with us,” said Di Williams from Juana Maria Old Age Home.

Once a year, Issie arranged a Christmas lunch for the Bingo Club and last year she got the senior citizens of the home to write a ‘Letter to Santa’, saying what they wanted for Christmas. With care and love, she arranged sponsors to make up gift bags for the oldies. Those who wrote letters to Santa received special presents, as she was moved by some of the letters that requested simple things such as ice-cream and chocolate.

Issie also arranged an annual Christmas party for underprivileged children in the community. With the help of the Lions and Rotary, she arranged for games and fun activities for the children. Santa would also make a dramatic entrance bearing gifts for all the children.

Mrs Issie Myburgh was a dedicated mother, grandmother, friend and confidant who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Update: The funeral service will be at 11am at the Old Klip Kerk in Murchison Street.
