Freedom Life Church has undertaken to ensure that a 15 000 litre water donation from Thirsti Water will quench the thirst of the neediest of Vryheid’s residents.

The church secured the donation through an elder of the church, who is an acquaintance of the owner of Thirsti Water.

Gert Veltman, a representative of the Freedom Life Church, thanked Thirsti for making the kind gesture of goodwill and promised to, “put the water into the hands of the needy.”

“We are grateful to all those who understand the situation that Vryheid is in, and have tried to ease our plight,” said Mr Veltman.

Among those to benefit from the donation are the Vryheid Hospital and local crèches, including the Inkululeko Children’s Home.

“I would like to remind residents that Vryheid is still in a dire situation as far as the drought is concerned so it is still important to use water sparingly,” concluded Mr Veltman. “However, it is amazing to see how the drought has brought people closer together. Even the different churches are coming together to pray for rain. I feel humbled by how the community has stepped up to help each other.”
