A typo-free Instagram?

Unlike Facebook, Instagram does not have an 'editing history' tab, so other users will not know if you have made an embarrassing spelling mistake

Users of the popular photo sharing application, Instagram, are rejoicing, as they have been given what they have wanted for ages – an option to edit a post on the photo sharing application. Previously, users had to delete a post to correct spelling mistakes, and completely re-type their post from scratch, including re-typing their very lengthy hash-tags.

Facebook has this system of editing a post in place, together with an edit history, where other Facebook users are able to see what has been changed in the post. Unlike Facebook, Instagram does not have an ‘editing history’ tab, so other users will not know if you have made an embarrassing spelling mistake in your caption and corrected it immediately.

In a generation of Grammar Nazis, this new feature on Instagram will be welcomed by many who are too lazy to upload a photo and re-type their entire caption. In the past, some users left their posts with their typos; other finicky users decided to go through the long process of re-uploading and correcting their captions and laid-back users simply amended their ‘mistake’ by correcting it in a comment below the photo.

Here’s to a typo-free Instagram!
