Racers drag their tyres on tar for old age home

All the proceeds will be used towards basic necessities for the elderly at the old age home

The cold and rainy weather didn’t deter No Rules Motorbike Club from hosting their annual fund-raising event in aid of the SAVF Jubileum Old Age Home. Early Saturday morning, the team was getting ready to host the first ‘Street to Strip’ drag race since 2018 on the Junction bypass towards Paulpietersburg. The rain earlier that morning added to their challenge, since they had to start a little later to allow the moisture to drain off the tar road. This year, the club wanted to spice things up by hosting an event that would also attract and involve the community, instead of their usual Poker Run. The community answered the call as spectators parked their cars in large numbers to witness this long-overdue event involving cars, cars and motorbikes, motorbikes alone, and even tow trucks. Even though it wasn’t a timed event, racers had the opportunity to not just show off, but also win a trophy. All the racers had to wear protective gear before they were allowed to race, and an ambulance was also on scene. All the proceeds will be used towards basic necessities for the elderly at the old age home.
The results are as follows:
Dolf – RWD;
Andries du Toit – Mc > 600;
Ebrahim Shaik – AWD;
Ubaid – FWD;
Jacques Smith – < 600.
