Pigeon races from Musina and Groblershoop

 The only pigeon that arrived on the Saturday was clocked by Lewis Hay at 17:45

On Saturday (September 9), the open pigeons raced from Musina (686km) and Groblershoop (762km). Both races were very tough due to the hot, windy weather.

The Musina pigeons were released at 06:15. The only pigeon that arrived on Saturday was clocked by Lewis Hay at 17:45. He also clocked the next two pigeons early Sunday morning. The winning pigeon flew an average speed of 60km/h. This pigeon achieved a sixth position in KZN.

The Groblershoop pigeons were released at 06:35. The first pigeon was clocked by Eric Holder Jnr in Bergville at 07:02 on Sunday morning. The first pigeon in Ladysmith was clocked by Lewis Hay at 08:11. The winning pigeon flew an average speed of 55km/h.

Eric achieved a second and 10th position in KZN, and Lewis a fifth and eighth position.

Musina Open (11 pigeons):
Lewis Hay: 1,2,3,6;
Emmanuel Maharaj (Weenen): 4,5.

Groblershoop Open (90 pigeons):
Eric Holder Jnr (Bergville): 1,4,19,25;
Lewis Hay: 2,3,9,13,22,29;
William Faurie: 5;
Jimmy Hanlon: 6,10,11,14,17,18,20,24,28,30;
Ron Irons (Winterton): 7,12,15,16,21,23,26,27;
Emmanuel Maharaj (Weenen): 8.

This weekend, the yearling races are from Polokwane (530km) and Kimberley (488km).
