Pigeon races from Bandelierskop and Griekwastad

Both races were released at 06:45

Last Saturday (August 26), the open pigeons raced from Bandelierskop (584km) and Griekwastad (638km).

The Bandelierskop pigeons had to battle against a strong head wind, resulting in a very slow race. Unfortunately, the Maharaj brothers from Weenen did not participate due to a death in the family, so Lewis Hay was the only participant, clocking the winning pigeon at 16:30. The winning pigeon flew an average speed of 60km/h. This pigeon achieved a seventh position in KZN.

From Griekwastad, the first two pigeons were clocked at 13:09, followed by the next four pigeons at 13:13, all clocked by Lewis Hay. These six pigeons took seventh to 12th positions in KZN. The winning pigeon flew an average speed of 100km/h.
