Fast-paced netball action hits the courts

Heading north, the tournament moves to Hoërskool Pionier for the Northern KZN Regional on September 16

As excitement builds for the Netball World Cup taking place in South Africa later this month, SPAR is excited to launch its third year of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Fast 5s Netball Challenge, which begins on Saturday, July 29.
This competition heads to seven regions around KwaZulu-Natal, inviting teams to participate in this exciting Fast 5s format. Much of the worldwide netball focus is on South Africa in the lead-up to this year’s Netball World Cup and with our Proteas national team pushing the limits in their phenomenal performances, the local youngsters are also eager to be on the courts and imitating their national netball heroes.
Getting the ball rolling at the first tournament, the North Coast Regional takes place on July 29 at Hoërskool Richardsbaai.

Two tournaments will then take place in August. The first, South Coast Regional, will be hosted by Kingsway High School on August 12, followed by the Kokstad Regional at Kokstad College two weeks later on August 26.
The fourth regional will be at Westville Girls’ High School, where they will welcome teams for the Durban Central Regional on September 2. Heading north, the tournament moves to Hoërskool Pionier for the Northern KZN Regional on September 16.
The final two regions take place closer to Durban, with the Midlands Regional getting underway at Voortrekker Hoërskool on October 14 and finally the Durban Coastal Regional at Danville Park Girls’ High School on October 21.

The success over the last two challenges (2019 and 2021) has rippled throughout KZN and as a result, schools and learners consider this to be a highlight on their school sports’ calendar. The SPAR Challenge offers the opportunity for players to be seen by coaches and selectors, either on the court or via the SuperSports Schools’ live-streaming.
All games will be live-streamed on the SuperSport Schools’ website or mobile app.
