Tiyar spins his web in the motoring world

The young lad describes spinning as ‘an absolutely amazing feeling’

At 16 years old, Tiyar Rajkoomar is blazing a trail in ‘spinning’ circles.

‘Spinning’ is described as a South African motorsport that involves driving cars at high speed in circles and performing stunts in and out of the car.

This is the kind of adrenaline that Tiyar thrives on.

This young man, who is currently at Drakensberg Secondary School, was introduced to ‘spinning’ by none other than his father.

“When I was little, my dad used to always take us to spin fests and I always had a dream of owning a spin car. As you can see, my dream eventually became a reality,” he explained.

Since then, Tiyar has competed in numerous provincial events.

On August 28, he competed at the Masonsmill battle grounds in Pietermaritzburg and on September 3, he represented Estcourt in Madadeni, Newcastle.

“The atmosphere was amazing. I was really surprised to see how much I was loved by the crowd. It felt great! I have a passion for this sport and I have been invited to many towns to ‘spin’,” added Tiyar.

The next competition is this coming Saturday in UMzimkhulu.

‘Spinning’, Tiyar explains, is an acquired technique and the fundamental principle is to learn how to judge your car with regards to the surrounding area.

“It’s an absolutely amazing feeling that words can’t describe,” he smiles.
