National Teachers’ Union hosts sports day in Limit Hill

About 200 teachers and admin staff took part in different games

The National Teachers’ Union (NATU), Ezakheni branch, held a variety of sports matches at the Limit Hill grounds today (August 25).

It all started with a 5km fun-walk, before the ladies competed on the netball court.

NATU secretary Welile Buthelezi said they are delighted to host games of this nature after the forced two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We normally have games every year, but due to Covid-19, we couldn’t for a while. We are happy that we have managed to host them again and that we had a good turnout. This shows that our colleagues have been missing taking part in sport,” said Buthelezi.

She added that these games help teachers and admin staff (their members) to de-stress and also promote a healthy lifestyle. She went on to thank all the sponsors who helped make this event a success. The sponsors included the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture; Sanlam; Assupol; Metropolitan; Sasko; TFS; Smart Scholar; and Ishies Fruit & Veg.
