Grand soccer tournament to take place this weekend

This will take place on November 27 at the Fernwood Sports Ground.

Soccer teams from Durban, Estcourt, Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas will participate in the Newcastle Legends Football Club grand soccer tournament this weekend.

This will take place on November 27 at the Fernwood Sports Ground.

“I strongly believe this tournament will be a huge success. Many eager supporters are waiting to be entertained by the awesome skills displayed by the various teams,” said Newcastle Legends Chairman, Vincent Muthoo.

Newcastle will be represented by two teams – Newcastle Legends Football Club and Osizweni Legends.

“Neither of our teams have won this prestigious tournament. Newcastle Legends coach, Pranil Kunju, is hard at work with the team. They have worked very hard. Now it’s left to those on the field to make sure they perform at their best.”

When the tournament was last held in town, Newcastle Legends reached the finals. However, the team lost to Newland by a solitary goal.

“Newcastle Legends Football Club would like to invite the community to show support for the teams. This year the event is for over 50s. We will be blessed to watch the stars of yesteryear show us how it’s done!”

There are stalls available at the grounds. For more information, contact the following:
