ESTCOURT: Food for Life Estcourt celebrates milestone of 5000 meals for 2020

The team has been working hard during the lockdown to ensure that residents receive a hot and tasty meal

Last Saturday marked a milestone for the Food for Life Estcourt branch, as it reached the 5000 meals mark for the year 2020.

This is a remarkable achievement for the handful of dedicated volunteers who source donors, as well as prepare and package the meals.

The Food for Life organisation is one of the biggest that provides fresh and nutritious vegetarian meals to millions of people worldwide daily.

In Estcourt, the team has been working hard during the lockdown to ensure that residents receive a hot and tasty meal.

On Saturday, 400 meals consisting of vegetable breyani and dhall were distributed to residents in Thembalihle, just outside Rensburgdrift.

The Food for Life members meticulously prepared the meal before it was packed up and loaded for Ward 10 councillor Edith Lite to distribute.

In addition to the meals, 108 kiddies’ hampers were also given to the children in celebration of one of the youngest devotees’ birthday.
