Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, many people have not been able to work full-time and this has impacted negatively on them.

Haroon Emam from White Mountain Lodge saw the suffering of his staff and residents in the area, so he contacted Gift of the Givers Estcourt community liaison Jaaved Khan to request assistance.

Driving a truck loaded with grocery essentials, the team set off to bring relief.

The first stop was at White Mountain Lodge, where the staff had been patiently waiting for the team’s arrival.
Joy and appreciation were etched on all the faces when the food parcels were off-loaded.

More than 50 parcels, as well as instant porridge, were handed out to the staff.

Next, it was off to meet the elderly members of the Igugulethu Luncheon Club. Here too, the food hampers were welcomed with gratitude.

“They were left in awe after seeing the parcels as we were offloading, and they immediately started singing,” said Mr Khan.

In excess of 40 food parcels were distributed to the members. Altogether, the Gift of the Givers Estcourt branch delivered 100 food parcels to residents.
