Gift of the Givers prioritises vulnerable children

300 orphaned and vulnerable children in Rensburgdrift, Colita and Wembezi received food parcels to last them through the month

Immediately after the nationwide lockdown was announced by President Cyril Ramaphosa last Monday, plans swung into action to provide essentials to orphaned and vulnerable children.

The monthly distribution to the children, under the wing of the Ithembalethu Outreach Project, was scheduled for March 27, but the Gift of the Givers decided to make the distribution before the official 21-day lockdown.

“This meant that the children would not have to go a month without their essential grocery items,” explained Gift of the Givers Estcourt representative Jaaved Khan.

The team headed out on Wednesday, when 300 orphaned and vulnerable children in Rensburgdrift, Colita and Wembezi received food parcels to last them through the month.
