Club golfers undeterred by wet weather

By 11.30am their prayers were answered and the sun peeked through the clouds heralding warmer weather.

Golfers put their patience to the test, as wet weather rained bore down on the Newcastle Golf Club on Saturday.

Some of those who competed in the Club Sponsored IPS Competition teed off into the wet conditions, while others waited before taking their first tee shot.

“We are trying to delay play in hopes that the rain will let up,” said an eager golfer.

By 11.30am, their prayers were answered and the sun began to peek through the clouds, heralding warmer weather.

The results for the day were as follows:

1. Deon Pfeil – 40 points.
2. Dries Els – 35 points onco.
3. Robbie Niemann – 34 points onco.
4. Willie Bruin – 34 points onco.
5. Renier Terblanche – 34 points onco.
