Participants had a choice of running either the 5km, 10km or 15km route at the Runoceros Trail fund-raising event, but they all shared the aim of ensuring animals’ survival for future generations to come.

Runners also enjoyed the bushveld track on the Moor’s game farm, which borders the Ezemvelo conservation area.
This was a good time to enjoy the light drizzle, catch your breath and appreciate the view of Wagendrift behind you.
Some may have been lucky to spot waterbuck, reed buck and other antelope.

All proceeds will be donated to the Rhino Peak Challenge, which is a fund-raising event for rhino and bearded vulture conservation, where runners are requested to raise R50,000 towards conservation.

Sadly, rhinos and bearded vultures are both endangered species due to habitat loss, poaching and poisoning.
