Women raise a glass to their boldness

August 9 saw females all over South Africa celebrate in different ways all that is woman.

Women’s Month is commemorated throughout the month of August.

The South African Government has encouraged boldness in women, to state without any fear what they want, through the #WhatWomenWant campaign.

Women from all walks of life have been motivated to share their perspectives on the gains, the gaps and the current struggles of women in Government, and boldly state what they want to see happening in order to realise the agenda of women equality.

Newcastle women were not left out as Ayanda Mbatha organised a ‘Women’s Day Champagne Breakfast’ on August 10, in Aviary Hill.

“August is a very special month because we get to gather as women and all share our experiences. Moreso, me and a colleague traveled out of town and saw that in cities there are a lot of programmes for women, so we wanted to bring that back here to our town. Women now don’t have to travel out of town to get a taste of such gatherings; that’s why we thought it would be a great idea to bring women together here.

“Women are the cornerstone of life itself. They are builders and if ever a chance arises, they should be fully appreciated. That is why we held this breakfast.”

The day was filled with sharing of experiences by the women, in life, business and love.
