Donors make a lifesaving difference at Drakensberg Secondary School

52 pints of blood was donated at the school

Drakensberg Secondary School (DSS) was abuzz as learners rolled up their sleeves, not for academic work but rather to donate blood.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) hosted a Scholar Blood Donor Clinic at DSS last Tuesday.

Francois Barnard makes his ninth donation at the blood donor clinic.

Between 10am and 2pm, 62 learners attended the blood drive, while 52 of them donated a life-saving unit of blood.
The nursing staff welcomed 21 new donors.

The SANBS team and clinic co-ordinator Mr SM Dawoonarain would like to thank all who supported them.

“A big thanks to the school for their continuous support,” said Mr Dawoonarain.

Andile Duma and Zamaswazi Mhlanga ahead of sharing a unit of blood to save lives.

The SANBS will be popping in at Estcourt High School on May 21 from 9am to 2pm.
