Burst pipe to blame for water cuts
Workmen hope to repair the pipe during the course of the day.
The cause of an unexpected water cut earlier today, has been traced to a burst pipe at the intersection of Da Gama Drive and Diaz Road.
Umzinyathi District Municipality workers are currently on scene, repairing the 45mm asbestos cement pipe, which feeds Dundee’s CBD. Water supply was cut shortly after sunrise this morning.

For those in Dundee’s CBD and high-lying areas, they have learned to live with this situation for more than a year now. The municipality also reduces water pressure during the day, in a bid to conserve water.
This reduced pressure in turn leads to high-lying areas often being without water. Low-lying areas are not affected, thanks to the natural gravitational flow of water.
