A 25-year-old and a 33-year-old have been arrested and charged for Truck-Hijacking, Possession of Unlicensed Firearm and Ammunitions.
The duo robbed a bakery truck at gun point in Osizweni and drove off at high speed. Police Constable Madida of Newcastle POP received information that the men drove towards Dannhauser.
He pursued them and spotted the truck at Bismark Farm, Dannhauser.
Police stopped and searched the vehicle and found a 9mm pistol and ammunition.
The recovered firearm allegedly belongs to the SAPS, with the serial numbers filed off.
It will be taken for ballistics, to test whether It was used in any other offences.
