Mahendra’s musical star continues to rise

From the small town of Dannhauser to the big lights of Durban and beyond, Mahendra Shamaparsadh is making a name for himself in the singing world.
Mahendra’s love of music began at an early age and at 7-years-old, he was already playing music and singing. His passion for the art form grew and
Mahendra soon become a household name in the town. But his passion for performing didn’t end there. Once he completed his schooling, Mahendra embarked on fulfilling his dreams of turning his passion into a career. Fast forward a couple of years and Mahendra is now an award winning artist who has numerous albums to his name.
He’s regularly featured on Lotus FM, has performed with some of South Africa’s biggest cultural singers and even owns his own band, Levana Sungeeth.
Levana Sungeeth is a staple at many hurdees, weddings and functions, entertaining crowds with a mix of old and new music.
They have also backed many top artists around South Africa.
Mahendra was recently honoured for his achievements in keeping culture alive through music at the annual Artes Awards in Durban.
It was a huge achievement for Mahendra and testament to his hard work and dedication paying off. Mahendra thanked his mother and family as well as Dharam Maharaj for all their support over the years.
With awards and albums already to his name, this is only the beginning for Mahendra as he aims to spread his love for music with everyone.
