The “Angler of the Day” was Ramil Juggan of Ladysmith Angling Club scoring 9 points, receiving the Red Cap, an outright trophy and R200. The top three anglers of the APL sees Mohamed Mia (Challengers AC) leading the pack with 17 points; followed by Kaveer Singh (BAC – 12 pts) and Anil Boodhoo (SAC – 10 pts).
Udien Govinder of Ladysmith AC landed an impressive carp which tipped the scale at 4,190kg placing him favourably to win R500 as an incentive for cracking the 4kg mark. Due to the fasting period, anglers will be taking a well-deserved break from competitive angling and will be back in action for League 3 on 21 October at Sandford.
This season, the prizes have been made rather lucrative with the top three anglers winning themselves R3 000, R2 000 and R1 000 worth of angling tackle respectively with the compliments of the APL and Mohamed Midas. The “Angler of the Year” will win a tackle voucher worth R3 000 and family weekend at Chimani Resort on the Vaal River sponsored by Andre Bait and Tackle.
