Cricket stars honoured at awards evening

The top teams, as well as the top bowlers and batsmen were rewarded for another season of outstanding cricket played.

The crème of the cricketing crop were honoured when the Umzinyathi Cricket Association held their annual awards. The top teams, as well as the top bowlers and batsmen were rewarded for another season of outstanding cricket played. The top teams and players for the season were:
T20: Champions: Ace Eagles; Top Batsmen: Udien Govender – 438 runs, Labeeb Adam – 289 runs, Ashvir Maghoo – 269 runs. Top Bowlers: Labeeb Adam – 21 wickets, Zaheer Adam – 18 wickets, Peter Pypers – 16 wickets. Saturday 30 Over League: Champions: Paki Lions. Top Batsmen: Rishi Durgadin – 310 runs, Adeel Ahmed – 290 runs, Vernen Naicker – 268 runs. Top Bowlers: Dean Lambert – 19 wickets, Joey Kalicharan – 18 wickets,
Saqib Ali – 16 wickets. Sunday 50 Over League: Champions: Molls. Top Batsmen: Adeel Ahmed – 461 runs, Willem Husselman – 164 runs, Jan-Frederik – 163 runs. Top Bowlers: Zaheer Khan – 12 wickets, Shaun Grinyer – 11 wickets, Willem Husselman – 11 wickets. Overall Top Batsmen: Adeel Ahmed – 817 runs, Vernen Naicker 574 runs, Willem Husselman 559 runs. Overall Top Bowlers: Shaun Grinyer – 37 wickets, Dean Lambert – 37 wickets, Joey Kalicharan – 36 wickets. Player Of The Year – Adeel Ahmed. Junior Player Of The Year – Willem Husselman. Batsman Of The Year – Adeel Ahmed. Bowler Of The Year – Shaun Grinyer and Dean Lambert.

Samantha Caldecott presents the tophy to Dean Lambert. Dean was the Top Bowler in the 30 Over League as well as sharing the title of Bowler of the Year with Shaun Grinyer.
Willem Husselman was crowned Junior Player of the Year. He received his trophy from Wilfred Bierbaum.
Adeel Ahmed was crowned Player of The Year after an outstanding season, in which he led his team to victory in the 30 Over League, as well as being crowned the Top Batsman in the 50 Over League.
