Sarel athletes bring medals home

On the day the school could see that Northern Natal school rugby is very healthy against Zululand schools.

Hockey: The Sarel Boys Hockey Team took part in a tournament in Eshowe where they played a gruelling 10 matches in extreme heat. They managed to win the tournament and Sarel Cilliers could not be more proud of their tenacity and dedication. The girls first hockey team won a bronze medal in the same tournament.
Rugby: This past Saturday Sarel’s 1st rugby side went to Eshowe High School to take part in their annual sports day. It’s a sports event with a different approach to other rugby days Sarel has attended. Here matches were 30 minutes (15 per side) and the team played 4 matches (nearly 2 hours of rugby) throughout the day, including the final. It was an ideal time to try different combinations with the players.
On the day the school could see that Northern Natal school rugby is very healthy against Zululand schools. It was the two Northern Natal schools that ended up playing in the final, with Sarel winning 21/7 against Vryheid Landbou. On the way to the final, Sarel played the following schools and won all with ease: Felixton (40/0), Eshowe (43/0) and John Ross (63/0). Well done to Sarel’s hockey boys that also won their side of the tournament by beating the strong side of Felixton 2/0 in the final. Well done to both boy sides (Rugby and Hockey), you made us proud.

Mr Dube to play for Sharks Club
Charles Dube, current Sarel teacher and old boy, was selected for the Cell C Sharks Club XV to play on March 16. Well done and hope it is the start of a wonderful and successful rugby career.
