DHS Learners excel in academics and sport

DHS learners received colours for obtaining outstanding averages for 2017.

On Thursday, February 8, DHS held their annual gala. It was a fun-filled afternoon, jam-packed with plenty of excitement and the portrayal of wonderful potential. Results of records, points and trophy winners will be announced next week.
DHS First Team Hockey Girls travel to Greytown for some pre-season fun
It is always a great idea to start the season with a bang! The passionate hockey coaches decided to have a small pre-season tournament to encourage team building, develop a winning mindset and build strategy before the season. They travelled to Greytown on Saturday, February 10, to play games against local teams in the area. DHS is proud to announce that the DHS Spartans played very well. They managed to draw their first game 1-1 and won the second game 2-0.
DHS’s Joshua Donaldson travels to Karkloof for MTB event
On Sunday, February 4, Joshua travelled to Karkloof trail club to take part in the annual SAPPI Karkloof Trailblazer 40kms MTB. He enjoyed the event because of the amazing scenery along with the super wet conditions. Joshua is excelling in this adrenaline junkie sport where competition just seems to get tighter at every event!
Top Academic Achiever for 2017 at DHS
The following learners received colours for obtaining outstanding averages for 2017:
Grade 11: Keshmiel Govender, Karl Thom and Philasande Mdletshe were awarded Honours for averages above 85%.
Sithembiso Ndwandwe, Muziwethu Sithole and Kiana Sadaw received Full Colours for averages from 80% – 84%.
Minenhle Dladla, Muhammed Hoffese, Lizwi Khumalo and Reece Nair received Half Colours for averages from 75% – 79%.
Grade 10: Ayas Bhula, Sisanda Thango, Monique Arends and Nadia Raffenberg were awarded Honours for averages 85% and above.
Loritha Maharaj, Tasheel Sevpersad and Mthokozisi Ngubane received Half Colours for averages from 75% – 80%.
Grade 9: Stefan Thom was awarded Honours for obtaining an average above 90%.
Asande Masala, Shoaib Malek and Ayabonga Cindi received Full Colours for averages from 85% – 90%.
Sinakhokonke Sibisi, Tumello Mwelase, Zethembe Nxumalo, Neo Motaung, Macgreiger Stein and Arish Balgobind received Half Colours for averages from 80% – 84%.
Grade 8: Amahle Nkosi and Eric Lauwrens received Half Colours for obtaining averages above 85%.
