Storm wreaks havoc – ‘destruction like we have not seen before’

Long-time resident say it was the worse storm 'ever'

The area is counting the cost of the devastating storm that last night ripped through Endumeni.

There was already been one fatality – a man whose body was found this morning in the Steenkoolspruit – while three children from Dlamini Village are still missing.

The destruction brought down trees, smashed windows and flooded countless homes.

Mayor Mbatha was out and about last night with Councillor Raubenheimer and other municipal officials surveying the damage. This morning Speaker Mbatha was also checking on the chaos.

Long time resident, FC Bester, said it was the worst storm he had seen in 40 years of living in Dundee.

A large tree fell down outside his home on Chievely Street, effectively putting him under siege.
