The Courier, of course which celebrated its centenary in 1999, is also very much part of the display. A must-see for all in the area!

What better way to mark Heritage Weekend with the opening at Talana Museum of the stunning Dundee Homecoming Exhibition.

Nine months and 9000 man hours later, Pam McFadden and her team – including the volunteer researchers – have produced a display the residents of the area can be truly proud of.

The display the Dundee area’s remarkable rich history, its colourful people of all communities who to quote Museum Board Trustee Malan Nel, ‘het ‘n merkwaardige indruk in die omgewing gemaak’.
The musicals produced and featuring Wendy Elliott, Molly Pringle, Evan Jones, former Mayoress, Anna Ware, and many others, are reflected in the ‘mini theatre’ which is part of the display, complete with a sound track courtesy of those old 33 and a third long playing vinyls!

Dave Durham of Orange Grove, who sponsored the new Homecoming Display to mark the 90th anniversary of the company, official opening the exhibition, with grandson, Oliver, in tow.

The Courier, of course which celebrated its centenary in 1999, is also very much part of the display.  A must-see for all in the area!

The Homecoming also saw a coming together of many old Dundonians including members of the Ware family, whose father, Dave, was a former Mayor and Alderman of Dundee.

Dave and Anna Ware’s granddaughter, Monique Smuts and her husband, Cobus, sang at the opening as a tribute to Dundee’s love for music and drama.
