Glencoe Primary welcomes a busy Spring term

The cricket season has also been in full swing and has seen five talented young boys make it through to the Inland and Northern KZN trials.

Glencoe Primary School’s promising scientists, Tayyaba Khan, Zaakir Ismail, Brett Harding, Shiven Raggo, Kayla Müller and Ayushi Dubree accompanied by Mr. Strydom and Miss Holtzhausen, excitedly made the journey to compete in the annual AstroQuiz competition held in Richards Bay on August 25. The competition hosted some of the province’s top schools, each displaying remarkable knowledge on themes around astronomy. The competition was very tough and held in a knock-out event style in which our GPS team performed very well. The weekend was not all hard work, however, as fun was had by all engaging and experimenting with a variety of scientific experiments, as well as a well-deserved trip to the mall for fun, games and a 3D movie.
Sports Stars Shine at Glencoe Primary School

While the rest of Glencoe Primary School celebrated Spring Day in style at school, two u/11 soccer teams made their way to Richards Bay for a weekend soccer tournament. “The Bulldogs” and “The Arrows” displayed some fantastic soccer skills and made it all the way to the final round where they faced Ricardia. The final game was back and forth and ended in a draw, which then resulted in a nail-biting penalty shootout which was unfortunately lost with 4 – 2 to Ricardia. Despite the loss, the boys held their heads high and had an unforgettable weekend.
Keeping with soccer – GPS was victorious in their matches against Dundee Junior School on September 4 with the second team bringing in a superb score of 4-1 and the first team winning with 2-0.
The cricket season has also been in full swing and has seen five talented young boys make it through to the Inland and Northern KZN trials. Glencoe Primary is proud of Adriaan Terreblanche, Junior Botha and Nkululeko Dladla for making it to the Northern KZN trials, and Jarren Theron, Bonga Dlamini and Nkululeko Dladla who made it through to the Inland trials.
Whilst Glencoe Primary School’s learners are proving they are sports stars in the making, the educators were not to be left behind. A group of five educators have joined the ‘Business League Bowls’ which takes place every Thursday evening at the Dundee Bowling Club.
