Sarel Rugby Tour
Sarel Cilliers’ first rugby team had a very successful tour at Parys Rugby Festival in Parys over the past holiday. They played three matches. The first match against HTS Sasolburg, Sarel showed that they are the team to beat at the festival when they won 29/3. Then they played Sand Du Plessis from Bloemfontein with excellent running rugby and won 39/3. After this they played Zeerust in the final. Sarel won this match 29/5. The school would also like to congratulate Menzi Mabaso, who received the award for best player of the week. Well done boys, you made us proud, on and off the field.

Netball girls selected for the Endumeni Team
Die Endumeni Netbalproewe het op Vrydag, April 21 plaasgevind. Baie dankie aan al die afrigters wat daarby betrokke was. Dit word opreg waardeer. The following u/15 girls made the Endumeni team: Olwethu Nxumalo, Nonjabulo Ngobese, Lusiwe Mkhonza, Celestine Jackson, and Banele Nkuna. Die o/16 netbalmeisies wat gekies is vir die Endumenispan is Sindiswa Masinga, Sinenhlanhla Molefe en Snegugu Zwane.
The u/17 girls selected were Zanele Dlomo, Aphiwe Mntungwa, Nompumemelo Sibisi and Siyanda Nkosi.
Baie geluk aan die volgende spelers wat gekies is om deur te gaan na die volgende rondte vir o/18: Bongeka Manyathi, Nqobile Moetenalo, Londeka Mhlongo.

Rugby against Ladysmith High
Sarel Cilliers rugby players took to the field on Saturday, April 22, with a lot of enthusiasm and energy versus Ladysmith High School. Good discipline and teamwork ensured for all round success on the day.
The scores were as follows: u/14 wins 42-5, u/15 wins 61-7 and u/16 wins 36-0.
Second team wins 42-5 and the first team had a comprehensive victory of 45-5. Well done boys and congratulations for keeping our rugby motto “Never Surrender” sky high.

Netball against Ladysmith High
On Saturday Sarel had a sports meeting against Ladysmith High School. All the players did their best, but for some teams, it was not enough. The scores are as follows: u/14B won 13-5, u/14A lost 7-19, u/15B won 8-5, u/15A lost 5-23, u/16B won 16-15 and u/16A lost 14-16.
The second team lost 11-21 and the first team lost 15-28. Congratulations to the teams who won. Sarel would like to thank all the coaches and referees who were involved.
Hockey against Ladysmith High
It was a successful day on the hockey field for Sarel Cilliers when they played against Ladysmith High School on Saturday. Although they won most of the matches, LHS were worthy opponents and the Sarel teams had to battle to the end to win. The scores were: u/16 won 3-1, 2nd team drew 0-0, 1st team boys won 1-0 and 1st team girls won 3-1.

Sarel Hockey Girls Team battled it out with Ladysmith High School.

Chess
Sarel Cilliers High School (Sarel) played chess against Ladysmith High School (LHS) on Saturday, April 22. LHS got off to an excellent start winning five games in quick succession. Sarel only won two games. T Jaji (Sarel) played and won, one of his best matches against G Buthelezi (LHS). Thereafter, the day looked like it would outright belong to LHS, until Sarel slowly crept back with two more wins and LHS also with two more wins. Final score was 7 – 4 in favour of LHS. S Msane (Sarel) seeded number one, stopped his opponent’s, M Schulman (LHS), unbeaten winning streak of two years. The day ultimately belonged to LHS and the school congratulated them on their win. They were the better side of the day.
