Use your rights to build, not to destroy

. Politicians and religious leaders need to take responsibility because both sectors have an influence on the society.

As we observe Human Rights month, let me take this opportunity to share with you some thoughts, as well as outlining some issues, which can assist us as the human family.
There was a young lady whom I came across while I was in Hawaii. This lady had issues with her lifestyle and decision making which resulted in her parents reprimanding her. She was sleeping around and coming home late and not respecting the parents Her parents reprimanded her and she, in turn, reported her parents to the police saying that she was being abused. Eventually, she won the case because the parents were called by the court to explain themselves.

While she was ‘exercising her rights’ that put her in this situation – using her body as she wished – does this make it right?

It appears that this girl was of the opinion that her rights were not taken into consideration etc. Time went by, she became pregnant as well as being HIV positive at the same time.
It was so painful for her parents yet she was the one who was involved in practices of unprotected sex and bad behaviour – it was nothing to do with rights anymore because she needed support from her parents and people around her.
While she was ‘exercising her rights’ that put her in this situation – using her body as she wished – does this make it right?

You are because I am; we need one another to bring about UBUNTU.

I wish to take this opportunity to those who are abusing their rights to remind them we were born in the image of God. Genesis 1 v 26.
Some people may feel special because they have abused the rights of vulnerable people. People become victims because of the treatment they get from others due to their gender, race or the places they find themselves in during civil strife in their countries.
It is the time to move away from the THEM and US syndrome. You are because I am; we need one another to bring about UBUNTU. Stop discriminating – use your RIGHTS in a manner that will benefit all of us to change the world, rather than creating unnecessary tension.

Let’s stand together in all areas of life and project positivity by using our rights for the benefit of all.

Racism is the disease that will kill us slowly and finish us like a tsunami if not addressed properly. Social cohesion is needed to bring about respecting one’s culture, religion and humanity in order for us to live in harmony.
I say this as there are people who say their rights are better than others, allowing them to do whatever they want which creates unhappiness for others.
Let’s stand together in all areas of life and project positivity by using our rights for the benefit of all. The book of life teaches us that we are the salt of the world.
Xenophobic attacks need to be stopped by all in different areas of life. Politicians and religious leaders need to take responsibility because both sectors have an influence on the society. Let us build a better South Africa for everyone to live in harmony and without fear. Let us use our rights to build rather than destroy.
