DHS learners did it again!

Athletics from Dundee High selected to represent the Umzinyathi District...

Athletics
After a long athletics season, Dundee High School is proud to announce that nine of its athletes have been chosen to represent Umzinyathi District at the KZN Schools Athletics championships on February 24-25. This means out of a team of 61, nine learners come from DHS.

Die volgende leerders is gekies om die span te verteenwoordig:
Sizwe Malakoane (100m en 200m); Cebo Kubheka (Hoogspring); Jan-Frederik van Zyl (Spiesgooi en Gewigstoot); Asanda Thungo (100m en 200m); Lethiwe Mathonsi (100m en 200m); Ziyanda Ngwane (200m); Anika Ragubeer (Verspring); Akeel Singh (Spiesgooi) en Chante Groenewald (Gewigstoot). DHS is baie trots op hierdie leerders en ons kan nie wag om te sien wat die eindresultaat van die naweek se aktiwiteite gaan wees nie. Die skool wens hulle alle voorspoed toe tydens die byeenkoms.

Bowls
On January 28, the KZN Bowls Trials were held in Newcastle. Sithembiso Ndwandwe, Minenhle Khumalo, Nqubeko Mngomezulu and Keshmiel Govender were chosen for the KZN Team. They will take part in the SA Tournament in Bloemfontein on April 4-7. Well done boys!

Netball
On Saturday February 18, the first team Netball girls participated in the Spur and Panarotti Ferrum Tournament. DHS played four games, winning two against St Escourt (13 – 3) and St Dominics (18 – 2). Against Ferrum, DHS lost (11 – 5) and lost after progressing to the semi-finals against Pionier (6 – 3). The girls played extremely well, looking forward to an excellent season of Netball after seeing them in action for the first time in this pre-season tournament.

Hokkie
Die Eerstespan-Seunshokkie het aan St Dominics se voorseisoense toernooi op Februarie 17 en 18 deelgeneem. DHS se eerste wedstryd was teen een van hulle taaiste opponente en het 0 – 0 teen hulle gespeel. DHS het Newcastle Hoër se span 7 – 0 gewen. Teen Ladysmith Hoër het DHS 0 – 0 gespeel. DHS het Vryheid Hoër 3 – 1 in die semi-finaal gewen, maar ongelukkig 0 – 1 teen St Dominics in die finaal verloor. Die seuns het bly veg en dapper gespeel tot die einde. Hierdie jong span het in 5 wedstryde net 2 doele teen hulle gehad en het 2de van 8 spanne geëindig. Wel gedaan seuns, die skool is trots op julle.
