Supermarket robbed on Victoria Street

Staff and security tied up and robbed at gunpoint

Brazen armed robbers have once again struck in the CBD, this time targeting a supermarket on Victoria Street.

AJ Supermarket staff were robbed at gunpoint after 7pm yesterday.

Staff were tied up along with a member of a security company who had entered the shop to buy something.

The armed robbers then fled on foot.

This is the third store in central Dundee to be targeted.

A hardware store was first robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones.

Armed robbers then struck at a restaurant on McKenzie Street, getting away with over R16 000 in cash and goods.

The increase in crime has once again sparked the calls for CCTV cameras in the CBD.
