Golfers to get a double boost from Battery Centre
The men's B division was also a closely contested affair with Marc Bradbury managing to pip Wynand Ackerman by one shot when finishing on a net 69 to win the Mug.
This coming Friday, December 16, is a public holiday and all our local golfers can look forward to a great weekend of golf at Dundee Country Club as The Battery Centre Tournament, now in its second year, and following up on a very successful tournament last year, takes place on Friday and Saturday.
The format for Friday’s play is multiplication stableford and Saturday will be a combined stableford event with prizes on offer for each day, however, the main prizes will be awarded on Saturday to the individual players who accumulate the most stableford points over the two days.
Braai fires will be lit by 6pm, so after prize-giving, players, together with their families and friends, are encouraged to bring their own meat and a salad and enjoy an evening at the club.
The December Monthly Mug competition was held this past Saturday with thirty-six golfers taking part.
The men’s A Division had to be decided on an extra hole play-off between the eventual winner Jo Khumalo and Henk Booysen, both members playing off the same handicap and finishing the regulatory eighteen holes on a gross score of 75. The men’s B division was also a closely contested affair with Marc Bradbury managing to pip Wynand Ackerman by one shot when finishing on a net 69 to win the Mug.
The Ladies B division was won by Debbie Catlett and Mareza Ackerman was the winner of the Ladies C Division Mug. There were only three players who were able to card a 2 Club on the day and they were: M Ackerman and H Hlongwane, both at the 4th hole and J. Khumalo on the 8th.
