Dundee golfers finish a creditable third

These two unfortunate incidents meant that two of the ladies teams had to withdraw from the tournament.

The annual Kwa-Zulu Natal Golf Inter-Club Tournament took place over the past weekend with the men competing over three course on the lower South Coast , while the ladies played all three days on the challenging Selbourne Country Club course.

It was the men’s B Division team of Walter Du Plessis, Jurie Engelbrecht and Joe Khumalo, who flew the Dundee Country Club flag high by finishing a very creditable third, with twenty six teams competing in their division.

The two Frog teams, together with the two Senior Frog teams struggled to overcome the windy conditions on the coast and all four teams unfortunately finished in the bottom half of their respective divisions.

The men’s weekend was however marred by some silent intruders on Friday night who helped themselves to a number of the players cell phones, i-pads, watches and wallets while they were sleeping, which resulted in the players being very despondent on Saturday.

The ladies also had their share of drama over the weekend, as they not only struggled on the difficult Selbourne course, but Martinique fell on the first day resulting in a very bad break to her wrist and had to be rushed to hospital to have an operation while Jackie was called home to attend to her husband who fell ill. These two unfortunate incidents meant that two of the ladies teams had to withdraw from the tournament.

All the players who competed over the weekend would like to once again extend a very big thank you to Richard Catlett and Henk Booysen for their generous sponsorship in making the weekend possible.

This weekend fixtures; Friday, November 04 , 10 Hole Meat Competition and Saturday, November 05 is the Monthly Mug Medal Competition.
