Sir
Has South Africa become a military base?
Everyone seems to be fighting for this or that. At first it seems like a harmless battle but the fact that it is a battle doesn’t set a comforting mood.
One begins to question themselves if South Africa really is a free country. If it is, what are the fights about? What is the chanting for? The murders and suicides? Where are we free? The minds of many, still tied by chains of illiteracy, go with little or no ability to reason intellectually and live their lives with no understanding whatsoever.
People are fighting amongst themselves. Not just ordinary people but leaders and rulers are fighting amongst themselves.
Municipal elections is where I’m trying to get at. At the utterance of “register to vote” follows a bang sound. A municipal councillor or candidate has been shot dead somewhere in the country. Has it become more about personal gain than it is about the citizens’ wellbeing? What freedom is this where we vote in fear because we see blood before us? What freedom is this where we vote more for a ruler than we do for a leader? What freedom is this where we are manipulated to vote for a particular person? What is this?
What example is being set if people are killing each other for positions?
Not long ago an active politician from the NFP party was shot dead without mercy at Msinga, in a community of people who are not educationally well off. I can imagine their reasoning to the whole scenario. How poor they look upon it and walk away from the situation before anyone can pin point them and kill them also.
So much for human rights.
