IFP Cllr Mbuzeleni Mkhize elected as new uThukela deputy mayor
He also replaces Cllr MM Khoza as the chairperson of the Water & Sanitation Portfolio
IFP Cllr Mbuzeleni Mkhize has been elected as the new deputy mayor of uThukela District Municipality.
Mkhize was elected during a special council meeting that was held today (October 17) at the Town Hall.
He fills the position that was left vacant after former mayor Cllr Mbongeni Shange of the EFF resigned more than a year ago.

Mkhize was up against former mayor Cllr Siphiwe Mazibuko, who was nominated by the ANC.
A large number of IFP supporters gathered outside the hall to see what the outcome would be.
Mkhize is also the IFP chairperson at uThukela District Municipality.
