Newcastle Airtime Obstacle Park team ‘warrior’ for Cancer Awareness

The Newcastle Airtime Obstacle Park team recently competed in the Virgin Active Warrior in Salt Rock City, KZN.

This year’s race, however, was more than just testing the team’s limits of endurance.

It was an emotional and personal experience as the team competed to spread awareness around cancer and the great loss that comes with losing someone to this disease.

After losing a dear friend and famous boxer, two years ago, Theuns de Kok, Leon decided to dedicate every warrior race thereafter to lost loved-ones.

“The warrior race is our way of coping with grief and loss,” said van Staden.

During this Warrior race, the team met Warrior Ric, an international motivational speaker and master of ceremonies, who also visited the Airtime Obstacle Park.

The team is now preparing for the 2025 Warrior Race, which will take place at the scenic Cradle area at Syringa Park,in March 2025.

“Gym training and finding a common goal are all part of helping us become stronger at coping with sadness and the difficulties in our lives,” he concluded.
