Tyres stolen from van in Bengal Road

The crime rate in the area has increased, say residents

Residents say that once a safe neighbourhood, Bengal Road has been plagued by a surge in crime recently.

A local vehicle owner is the latest victim to fall prey to the ever-rising tide of theft.

Last night (October 13), thieves struck his residence, making off with the two front tyres of his van. The vehicle now stands on bricks.

The vehicle owner recounted the morning’s events, his voice laced with frustration and concern. “I was preparing for work when my sister walked into the back yard to leave for her job. That’s when she noticed that the van’s tyres were missing.”

The incident has left the car owner feeling vulnerable and anxious. “This is the country we live in and we’re not safe. I don’t know where to park my vehicle now. Every night I’ll be worrying about what might be stolen next.”

The police have been notified, but the owner remains skeptical if anything will come of it. “Will they catch the culprits? I doubt it. The crime rate is skyrocketing and we’re just statistics.”
