Young woman’s body found naked in open field

Mandisa Buthelezi’s body was found on Friday morning in an open field next to Sasko, opposite the bakery. The 20-year-old was found naked, apart from the bra she was wearing. No other clothing was found, except her shoes that were a couple of hundred metres from her body. She had been hacked / slashed on several parts of her body with a sharp object, possibly a bush knife. The wounds on her hands indicate that she was trying to defend herself. Buthelezi’s sister last saw her on Thursday evening before she had to identify her sister’s body on Friday morning. A postmortem will conclude whether Buthelezi was raped. Police are currently investigating the case. The Vryheid Herald extends its condolences to family and friends.
