Michaelis Challenge creates scenic route for local runners

The route had a few uphill sections, but the plantations’ beauty made up for the struggles along the way

The Michaelis Challenge is always an event that is marked on the calendar of all mountain bike riders, runners, walkers and novices. The routes are well marked, which indicates that the event is well organised by Michaelis Private School’s parents, teachers and learners. Vryheid Athletic Club runners entered the 22km, 10km and 5km races in numbers. The race was challenging and the front-runners were overly excited, which caused them to miss the turn-off and take an even more ‘scenic route’ when they ended up completing 24km instead of 22km. However, it was all taken in good spirits afterwards. The route had a few uphill sections, but the plantations’ beauty made up for the struggles along the way. Thank you to Michaelis for another excellent event.
