IFP ‘gives back’ in the name of their late leader

The donation was made to commemorate IFP leader Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s birthday

IFP councillors under the Driefontein Cluster celebrated late IFP leader Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi’s birthday by giving back to the community.

The councillors donated 30 pairs of school shoes to Ingula High School learners on Tuesday, August 27.

IFP Youth Brigade chairperson (Indaka/Mnambithi) Cllr Ntuthuko Thabede said this was the perfect way to remember their iconic leader.

“He dedicated his entire life to serving the people and he taught us to give back to the community. He was one person who always preached the importance of education and it was for this reason that we decided to celebrate his life by encouraging learners to focus on their studies,” said Thabede.

He urged the learners to avoid negative influences and peer pressure, also warning them about the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse. “I am appealing to the community under Alfred Duma Local Municipality to join hands with us, regardless of political or religious affiliation. Let us work together to pave a better future for our youth,” said Thabede.

Alfred Duma Speaker Bheki Sithole shared the same sentiments as Thabede regarding the legacy left behind by the late IFP leader. “I’m happy to be part of this wonderful initiative. I am appealing to you, as learners, to stay focused as individuals. You must know the goals you want to achieve in life and strive towards them. This is your chance to lay a foundation for your future, so give all your attention to your books while you still have the chance,” said Sithole.

Also part of the event was Ms Phumzile Mabizela from Statistics South Africa uThukela District; Mr Goba from Esethu Shoes; and local councillors Sanele Msimanga, Xolani Kubheka and Mduduzi Zikalala.
