The Birdlife South Africa Facebook site has been hacked!
They are battling to reclaim their Facebook page
A shocked and clearly disappointed South African birding community woke up this week to find that the BirdLife South Africa’s Facebook page has been hacked, with current activity no longer under their control.
In posts on other birding groups, including Birdlife International, they confirmed that the site had been hacked.
“BirdLife South Africa’s Facebook page has been hacked and current activity is not under their control.”
They stressed that it was only the Facebook page. “Only the Facebook page has been hacked; not the group.”
They asked birders and members to be patient as they attempt to wrestle control of the site back from the hackers.
As of today (August 29), they have still failed to get control of the site, with the hacker occupying admin positions on the site.
