Endumeni Mayor’s phone targeted by hackers
No one is immune to the cunning scam artists that lurk.
Not even Endumeni’s ‘first citizen’ is safe from notorious hackers.
Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu’s cellphone has been hacked, the municipality confirmed.
The scam artist accessed those on his phone-book list, whom he contacted and made ‘certain promises and requests’, the municipality said in a statement.
“We apologise to those contacted via the mayor’s number, 079 570 6610, and urge them to kindly ignore any messages, calls or requests made through that number.
“To those who may have fallen victim, we apologise for the inappropriate messages, calls and requests in this unfortunate situation.”
The mayor commented that he had no idea how the hacker got into his phone.
