On closer inspection, the bags were found to contain copper bundles

Three men were arrested for possession of copper cables on Monday night.
Vryheid and Gluckstadt Crime Prevention Unit members were patrolling the R33 Vryheid/Paulpietersburg road when they spotted a suspicious-looking vehicle.
They stopped the vehicle and a routine search turned up two white maize meal bags in the boot. On closer inspection, the bags were found to contain copper bundles. The copper weighed close to 50kg. The men, who are allegedly from Newcastle, were immediately arrested and taken to the police station.
