Police recover pistol and drugs during ops in Wembezi
The recovered firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing
Two suspects were arrested in the Wembezi area on Saturday (July 13) after being found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and narcotics, respectively.
SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan explained that police officers from the Uthukela District were conducting operations in the Wembezi area when they arrested a 52-year-old man. He was found to be in possession of an illegal 9mm pistol and ammunition.

A 34-year-old was nabbed during the same operation, this time for possession of illicit drugs.
The two suspects made an appearance in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday (July 15). They face charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as narcotics.
